Time Rival takes you on a beautifully intimate tour of his instruments, chiefly, the naked hammers-out piano sat in his studio. As with most instrumental records, words can seldom do justice to the expertly crafted prettiness of this triumphant little beast. Fans of Southard's work can then rest easy. It's tempting to say 'He's done it again', but he hasn't. Not like this. This is a record to obsess over.
